Linguini with Roasted Red Peppers, Crabmeat & Basil
Serves 2

roasted red peppers*, about 4 whole, cut into slivers
2 to 3 cloves garlic, crushed
pinch of crushed red pepper flakes
1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil
1/2 lb. linguine** (or less — I used about 6 oz of dried fresh linguini)
kosher salt
6 oz. crabmeat — this Wild Planet Dungeness is fantastic
big bunch fresh basil
fresh cracked pepper if desired

*You could certainly use jarred, which would save time, but if you have the time, make them from scratch — they’re so easy and delicious!
**Use whatever shape pasta you like.

1. Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add a big pinch of kosher salt. (I add about a tablespoon). Place the oil, garlic and red pepper flakes in a small skillet and turn heat to high. When the oil and garlic begin to sizzle, turn off the heat. (If you have an electric burner, as I do, remove pan from the heat source if the garlic begins to brown.)

2. Cook pasta until al dente. Reserve 1/4 cup of the pasta cooking liquid. Drain pasta and place in a large bowl. Immediately toss with the garlic-red pepper flake oil. Add the sliced roasted red peppers, crab meat and fresh basil to the bowl. Toss together. Taste. Add some of the reserved pasta cooking liquid if necessary. Season with more salt and pepper if necessary.

We are so in love with this pair of Everest Wing Chairs that were made for our customers.   The chairs are upholstered with two different fabrics – a fabulous grey & cream trellis print on the outside back and a solid grey twill on the remaining .   The use of duo fabrics give the chairs an understated elegance rather than making a bold overwhelming statement.

Simple thought but so true!

The Maddox Dining Table mixes Old World charm with Industrial flair.   It features an Antique Zinc top with large brass nails and an Old Pine Trestle Base.  This table is stunning and pairs perfectly with the Pierce Dining Chairs and diamond tufted Joseph Bench.

We are always on the look out for a good local bakery and were so excited to meet Morgan Gadouas when she stopped by Diggs a few weeks ago.  Morgan and her husband, Jeremey recently opened Midori Bakery in Redmond.  The shop is tiny and is tucked away in the back side of a series of industrial buildings off of 95th Street.  But finding the bakery is well worth it as the pastries are to die for!

MidoriBakery

Midori specializes in breakfast pastries including croissants, scones & coffee cakes.  Our favorite is the twice baked Blueberry Almond Croissant.  Jeremey is the mastermind behind the pastries.  He was recently a member of Team USA which won 2nd in the world at the prestigious Coupe du Monde Competition held in France.  Morgan is the creative force behind the cakes. The bakery also provides desserts for the Januik Novelty Hill Winery.

The bakery’s hours are very limited but we imagine they will be extending their hours shortly once the secret gets out!
